Welcome to my Blog!

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

The Belvedere building in front of the Wisconsin Club is a great prop for wedding photographs. The angle I took on the structure gave an awesome sneak peak of the club behind. Not only is the building fun for photos, the Belvedere makes a great landmark for the clubs outdoor parties and cocktail hours.

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

Kids are fun! It's always fun to photograph them interacting with one another at weddings. The last photo is of three sisters being silly for the camera. After I took the picture they asked to see it! I love when kids ask to review their photos. Next thing you know, they'll be art directing my shots...

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

The gate outside the main entrance of the Wisconsin Club is one of my favorites in Milwaukee. It totally reminds me of the gate in the original Willy Wonka movie. I love the scene where Charlie is waking home and he stops and stares at the gated chocolate factory. Gates have a secret garden effect on me, I want to know what's inside. Isn't Robyn beautiful..

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

These photos of Robyn and Jeremy were taken downtown Wauwatosa. Jumping out of the trolly to steal a few shots is always fun, especially when it starts raining! AGHHHHH...!!! Good thing we planned ahead and packed the umbrellla!

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

One of my favorite moments from Robyn and Jeremy's reception was when Jeremy accidently got frosting all over Robyn's nose during their cake ceremony. The look on Robyn's face right after it happend was priceless. Within an instant, Jeremy leaned in and kissed it off her nose. It was so funny, everybody was cracking up.

Keil Wedding - August 7, 2009

Have you ever seen a father daughter slideshow? What a cute idea! The whole slideshow was photos of the bride with her father throughout the years. Can you feel the emotion in their embrace? It was such sweet moment to witness.

Jones Wedding - July 18, 2009

Outdoor ceremony's are always so beautiful, especially when all the flowers are in bloom. These detail shots of Lindsay and Chris's ceremony were taken by second photographer, Andrea Coan. Both their ceremony & reception were held at The Lake Windsor Golf Club in Windsor, WI. Did you hear they were awarded Wisconsin's 2009 Best Reception Site by Wisconsin Bride Magazine!

Jones Wedding - July 18, 2009

Lindsay requested that I take a few portraits of her before the ceremony got started. She looked amazing in all the shots we took. The last photo is with her and her flower girl, Makayla. Makayla was kind of shy at first but once Lindsay gave her a hug for the photo, she lit right up.

Jones Wedding - July 18, 2009

Lindsay and Chris's reception details were so sweet. My favorite detail was their floating candle holders with emerged fresh roses. The wedding was very classic and very feminine. All shades of pink made an appearance from the fairest and lightest rose to a hot and vibrant magenta.

Jones Wedding - July 18, 2009

Chris and his guys hid away in the morning so that Lindsay and him wouldn't accidently run into one another. I love how the groomsmen to Chris's left is leaning his head on Chris's shoulders. It almost reminds me of something a band member would do in a photo taken backstage.

Jones Wedding - July 18, 2009

Candid photos during dinner and the toasts are a must have. To make it work, the timing has to be just right. Being seated close to the bride and groom is a big help. That way we can blend in with the party and continue to pay close attention to what's happeneing at your table.

Leigh Wedding - June 27, 2009

Mandy and Nate requested a photo with Nathan's son Gabriel. I love how cute he is with Mandy and how loving they are as a new family. Something about him reminds of me of that kid from Jerry Maguire? Maybe it's his glasses that does it? Whatever it is... I heart him.

Leigh Wedding - June 27, 2009

The flower girl and ring bearer were so cute together. I love the look on Jayden's face while her mom is adjusting her hair piece. What a cutie she is! Looks like Gabriel was happy to see some of his friends and family sitting in the pews.

Leigh Wedding - June 27, 2009

It's always fun finding new detail shots at weddings. The groomsmen standing all lined up with their hands behind their backs and the bridesmaids holding their flowers made the perfect combo during Mandy and Nates receiving line.

Leigh Wedding - June 27, 2009

Nate and Mandy asked me to take candid photos of them on their pub crawl instead of going out to take portraits. The first photo of the bride and groom hanging out was taken by second photographer Kristen. After grabbing the shot, Kristen came up to me to show me it. She told me she liked how relaxed and cool Nate looked in the photo.

Notarianni Wedding - June 20, 2009

The first kiss as husband and wife is such an amazing moment. The groomsmen applauding in the background made this shot one of my favorites. I was drawn to this angle because of the arch over the doorway behind. The last photo is one of my favorites of Matt and Jen exiting the church. Although it's a simple shot, I love how happy they are.

Notarianni Wedding - June 20, 2009

It's fun coming up with new ways to photograph the wedding party. Second photographer Andrea Coan did a great job incorporating the bench in this shot of the guys. The groomsmen’s individual body language gives them each their own presence in the shot.

Notarianni Wedding - June 20, 2009

What cool centerpieces! Glass globes filled with fresh pink flowers, all stacked upon each other, in large towering glass vases. Their cake was also quite fun with little pink fondant beaded flowers twirling up the sides. I love the look Matt gave Jen right before sharing their wedding cake. You almost can't tell if he's thinking "let's be nice.." or he's plotting something naughty.

Storm Wedding - June 14, 2009

When couples stand shoulder to shoulder it makes me think of Grant Woods, "American Gothic" painting. I tried to play off of the strong frontal stance of the husband and wife while sassing it up a bit with body language and pose. Hopefully, my interpretation is a bit more upbeat and gives todays reader a more accurate depiction of the todays bride and groom.

Storm Wedding - June 14, 2009

Coming down the aisle just after you've been announced as husband and wife, is such a fun moment. It goes by quick but it's something to remember. It was so sweet when Greg and Erika stopped and looked at one another along the way. I'm a sucker for the double glance. After they made their way down the aisle, they celebrated with a mini little slow dance. It was so cute.

Storm Wedding - June 14, 2009

Ever have a Madeleine cake? They're a new favorite at weddings. I think it's the frosting and silky inside that makes people fall for them. Smaller cakes like the Madeleine not only taste good but they make sweet little centerpieces too! You can pick one up at the Metro Market downtown.

Will Wedding - June 13, 2009

I love photos of the bride and groom in route. The whole process is an action packed experience. Watch the dress, careful down the stairs, stuff the train into the car, hop over the mud, use your toe not your heel, hold onto the veil, here comes the wind, dodge the rain, watch out for that ice! To the limo everybody, champaign?

Will Wedding - June 13, 2009

Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles.. A bubble landed right smack on my lens while I was photographing Rudy and Karissa's big exit. I could see it coming at me in slow motion but figured it would pass overhead or pop before it came too close. What are the odds? It turns out I'm a bubble magnet.

Will Wedding - June 13, 2009

Check out Karissa's muscle man pose! From what I hear, it's one of her favorite snapshot poses. :-) I love a bride that can pull off the muscle man look and the fairytale princess all in one. She's was so much fun! This photo goes out to all those muscle chicks out there who aren't afraid to flex it. Stay tough ladies...

Fitzpatrick Wedding - June 06, 2009

Before the ceremony, I stopped by Tara's condo to snap a few getting ready photos. Her dress was designed by
Matthew Christopher. One of my favorite dresses to date! Tara's necklace and earrings were also amazing. Both designed by Erin Cole with love. Check out their websites sometime!

Fitzpatrick Wedding - June 06, 2009

Tara and Chris's first dance was one to remember! Weddings at The Marcus Center are known for great dance parties! It was awesome to see their guests surround them as they shared their very first dance as husband and wife. Second photographer, Ryan Kautzer snapped these fun shots!

Fitzpatrick Wedding - June 06, 2009

There's something super cute about a bride and groom snuggled under an umbrella together. As cute as it looks in photos, I'm hoping my black umbrella doesn’t make another appearance for a quite a while. Sunshine every Saturday until late October would be much appreciated. Heck while were at it, let's push for November too!

Fitzpatrick Wedding - June 06, 2009

One of my favorite moments from the day was when Tara's father Steve first saw Tara. Steve's whole face light up with Joy the moment he walked into the room. Sometimes I get a little tear in my eye while I'm photographing, this was one of those moments! Shhhh... It makes me love my job!

Pliskie Wedding - May 30, 2009

Cara and Ben's wedding reception was held at The Hotel Pfister. Right before the cocktail hour, we took a few pics beneath the entrance way. Cara and Ben looked great! Someday soon, I'm going to try and get out and photograph some street photography. I love random black and white shots of people in the city, they're so classic looking!

Pliskie Wedding - May 30, 2009

Cara & Ben wanted to take their group portraits down by the lake but mother nature was a bit too windy. Instead of the lake, we used their trolley as our location. Not only did it keep everybody safe from the wind but it was totally cute in the photos. If you like trolley rides, Milwaukee offers a free trolley ride through downtown, Brady Street and the Third Ward. The trolley runs Wednesday through Sunday until Labor Day. You can hop on and off whenever you like!

Pliskie Wedding - May 30, 2009

Cara and Ben's ceremony was held at Christ Church in White Fish Bay. Everybody at the church was so excited for Cara and Ben's Wedding. I love the first picture of Cara & Ben's big exit. Cara guests waved streamers with bells as they made their way through the crowd. It was awesome!

Klikuszowian Wedding - May 16, 2009

Both Lauren and Chris were so nice to work with. When taking the photo of them cuddling in the park, I went for something simple and sweet. The second photo with the champagne glasses was taken by second Photographer, Ryan Kautzer of Lefteye Photography. I love the lighting on the glasses as well as the yellow flowers popping out within the blurred couple.

Klikuszowian Wedding - May 16, 2009

St. Edna's Church in Arlington Heights, IL has the perfect balance of natural light and lighting for taking pictures. I love when churches illuminate their side walls, it makes for great backlighting. I had fun playing around a little with depth of field and tilt on the second image.

Klikuszowian Wedding - May 16, 2009

Lauren & Chris picked a super fun color for their wedding, Yellow! Yellow means joy and happiness. People of high intellect favor yellow. Like the energy of a bright sunny day, yellow brings clarity and awareness. All the girls looked so cute in yellow. Hello Ladies..

O'Connell Wedding - May 9, 2009

One of my favorite things about weddings at The Wisconsin Club is their dressing rooms. Nothing beats natural window light for morning photography. For the first photo, I asked Megan to echo the portrait on the wall. Initially I took one of Megan looking the same direction as the painting but ended up liking the opposite direction best. I thought it was kind of playful in a dressed up way.

O'Connell Wedding - May 9, 2009

Megan’s colors were so fresh and so clean, clean. Kelly Green and Cerise are a perfect spring combination! The bridesmaids dresses and purses were all J.Crew. J.Crews wedding line is playful, elegant and timeless. Calling all brides to be, check it out! I love the matching handbags. Doesn't Megan look so beautiful!

O'Connell Wedding - May 9, 2009

Megan and Mike's ceremony was held at at
Calvary Presbyterian Church. What a cool church! Not only is it's architecture interesting; it's in a great location for city shots! Right outside the Big Red Church is Wisconsin Ave. Wedding photos in the city are my favorite.

O'Connell Wedding - May 9, 2009

It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring, bumped his head on his bed, couldn't get up in the morning. Wonder where that song ever cam from? It was noted in 1939 in New York by
Charles Ives (1874–1954) and copyrighted in 1944 by Freda Selicoff. I don't think Megan and Mike even noticed the rain drops overhead. They were so happy together, umbrella and all!

Zeratsky Materninty Shoot - March 28, 2009

Jessica and Matt Zeratsky are expecting baby Natalie! I had the pleaseure of meeting them both at Katie and Eric Kass's wedding back in 2006. When Jessica called me and asked me to photograph her and Matt's maternity photos, it was such a nice surprise. Isn't their dog Mollie the cutest? Someone has a new friend on the way...

Kimble Engagement - March 7, 2009

The Milwaukee Domes made a great location for Summer and Jeremy's engagement shoot. It was a cold drizzly morning outside but inside the domes it was warm and sunny. Summer and Jeremy are friends of mine so I was super excited when they asked me to be their photographer. Their wedding should be a blast! I might even do a little dancing!

Jones Engagement - February 28, 2009

Brady Street and North Avenue are two of my new favorite streets to photograph on. Before the shoot, Lindsay and Chris met me at The Twisted Fork for a little brunch. It was really nice to get to know each other a bit. In honor of Lindsay and Chris's recent move down south, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles entree! We all laughed and had a great time. What a fun afternoon!

Eva Beyer - January 28, 2009

When the wedding season clams down in the winter I love to test models. It's so hard to find models that will go outside and endure the cold. After meeting Eva Beyer at the
Ford Holiday Party, I decided to give it another try. Laura Daniel did the on set styling and as always pulled the best looks. Her ideas and vision are truly inspiring. Eva looked so beautiful in her little navy jacket and yellow ruffled skirt. Thanks again!

Shelli Boome - January 7, 2009

Makeup Artist Mary Guthrie, was super sweet to open her home up for Shelli Boome's photo shoot. What a great location, equipped with a colorful library, formal dining room and Vermont inspired entry. Not only is Mary super creative with hair but she's fast! Shelli Boome was an awesome model. Thanks for going outside for us Shelli, I know it was chilly!

Morning Blend Interview - December 30, 2008

Wow, the season just flew by! Did you guys hear I was on TV? It was so much fun. While I was on air, I gave a little shout out to
The Collection. I hope it helps us! Thanks for choosing me as your wedding photographer in 2008. Happy New Year love birds!

Majid Wedding - December 20, 2008

Aliya & Zeeshan had a intimate ceremony and dinner at
The Pfister Hotel. We had an awesome time running around the hotel taking pictures. The last picture in the sequence is my favorite, the two of them joking around and faking high fives for the camera. Just by a short time I spent with them, it was plain to see, they have a lot of fun together, tons of laughs and are truly happy.

Clarissa Anderson - December 17th, 2008

You might know Clarissa Anderson from Project Runway Season #3. I was really excited to have the chance to work with her. When I look at Clarissa, the first thing I think is editorial. I could pretty much photograph her all day. Sopha Kommavang's makeup and Laura Daniels styling were perfect! Thanks again ladies!

Burkemper Engagement - September 19, 2008

Erika and Mark live in Chicago so it seemed fitting to shoot downtown. I love being in the city. I went to Art School in Chicago, fell in love, learned to rollerblade there and found myself through my art. What more need I say, I had a wonderful afternoon. On top of that, both Erika and Mark were lovely to work with.

Jessica Sohns Shoot - July 14, 2008

I had the pleasure of photographing Jessica's wedding a couple years ago. After running into her at her sister Katies wedding this summer, both girls volunteered to model for my latest project. Jessica did an amazing job. She has a great look and fun playful spirit. Her sister Katie's shoot is this Friday. It should be just as fun!

CaPaul Portrait - July 9, 2008

Nathan's one year photoshoot was so much fun! Isn't he a cutie? Kara and Jeff were wedding clients in 2006. It was really great to hear from them and have the chance to work together again.

Erin Chaney & Bridesmaids - July 3, 2008

Erin can play the air guitar like no other, at least better than any other bride I've seen! What do you say girls, up for a challenge? Stay tuned for more pics of Erin and Steve...

Falk Wedding - June 28, 2008

Gesu Parish's architecture is so amazing. Associate photographer Andrea Coan said it best; it's like being in Rome! Not only is the inside beautiful but the front doorways are great to shoot under during heavy rain storms.

Caulfied Wedding - June 21, 2008

When you have your wedding at the War Memorial in Downtown Milwaukee, one of the best perks is having your ceremony & cocktail hour outside. It's a great location with breathtaking lake views, not to mention a pretty nice view of the Santiago Calatrava. Just as the cocktail hour was ending, we recorded the moment with a quick bird’s eye photo from above! Thank you Laura and Steve for picking such a fun location!

Wahlberg Wedding - June 27, 2008

Jane and Jim picked the most beautiful place for their ceremony, The Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, WI. If you've never been, be sure to check it out! It's a great place to day trip to. The middle photo was Jane's idea, isn't she fun? The photos were taken with a bit more of a formal approach, location, location, location..

Starnes Wedding - July 8, 2008

This photo cracks me up! This photo is from the kid’s room at the reception. Don’t they look like little business men! My favorite part of this photo is the lone kiddy cocktail in the corner. Did you know that grenadine syrup is actually made with pomegranate juice verses cherry juice? Fun fact..

Kristen and Charles Starnes - June 26, 2008

Kristen and Ryan Starnes wedding was lovely, even though a tornado touched down just minutes from their ceremony site in Racine. Luckily the storm didn't affect planning and lifted just in time for us to take a few photos outdoors. As we arrived at the lighthouse for photos, we were excited to see Channel 58 News waiting to interview us for a Severe Weather Story. Later that evening, the reception took place at Milwaukee's very own Wisconsin Club. Thanks to Joseph Leigh Designs, the interior of the ballroom looked like something out of a dream!

Jessica Quist & Andrew Benes - June 23, 2008

My boyfriend Andy and I were super excited to attend the Wisconsin Bride Magazine Best of Awards. We both had fun mingling and mixing it up with other local vendors. Maybe a little too much fun, is that possible? This photo was shot by Ryan Kautzer of Left Eye Photography. Ryan is an amazing photographer and good friend. He was nice enough to send me a copy. Thanks Ryan!

Liz and Brian Lillquist - June 18, 2008

More tree blossoms! Love them... This was shot at the Villa Filomena on the east side. Liz dress by Nicole Miller was classic and elegant! Walking behind liz as she entered the villa, the back of her dress called me to take this photo. "Hello.. this is Liz's dress calling.. pick up if your there... Both Liz and Brian were wonderful to work with! If I'm ever in San Franciso...

Mike Quist - June 15, 2008

Here's a portrait of my dad from last fathers day. This is one of my favorite photos of him. You probably can't tell because he's laughing, but his shirt really brings out his eyes. He always looks great when he wears blue. Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Elise Gardiner - May 18, 2008

When clients Stacey and Glen Gardiner invited me to photograph their new baby daughter Elise, I was super excited. She's such a cutie! Can you believe it was Elise's first time playing in the grass!

Jodi and Brett Radaj - May 17, 2008

Thank you Andrea for sneaking behind the blossom tree and grabbing this shot. Your beautiful eye never ceases to inspire and amaze me. I can almost smell the tree blossoms and feel the excitement of composing the image myself. This image takes me back home. It was in my backyard that my great grandfather thought it would be a good idea to plant apples tress in three rows of four, three more on the side and just incase we were an apple short, another in front of the house. The sweet smell of the flowering tress made our yard like something out of a fairytale, if only for a week.

Jodi and Brett were awesome to work with. I was so happy they requested a photo of themselves with their dog buster. Buster was an awesome model.. Good boy Buster!

Katie and Tim Dworak - May 3, 2008

Walking into the room, I pictured Katie & Tim seated, sharing a book, laughing as they leaned into one another. I fell in love with the available window light to the left instantly. The lighting gives it a certain romanticism, almost as if the book was written just for this moment, for this one picture. Of course, this is unlikely, but as someone who has dedicated their career to the exploration and documentation of love and union, I must question fate.
